What is your appraisal for?

Back to News

Have you ever found yourself wondering why you have an annual appraisal?

For staff on Agenda for Change terms and conditions, formal appraisal reviews happen every year and occur in the appraisal season from 1 April to 30 June. This annual review should be the culmination of an ongoing performance and support discussion and review process between staff member and manager. Objectives set at the annual appraisal review should not be left unexamined until the next annual review a year later. Maintaining an engaging and supportive relationship between staff and their managers is an essential element of creating high-performing and patient-focused teams.

Appraisal training

Appraisal training for new managers (and those who would like a refresher session!) is commencing in January. Very soon, courses will be bookable through 'My Learning' on ESR. However, if you have a group of 10 or more staff in your department who wish to undertake the training, then please contact Organisational Learning on leedsth-tr.OLCourseBookings@nhs.net to request a bespoke appraisal training session. You will need to ensure that a training space is booked in your department with presentation equipment available.
